Anthony Oddo, D.V.M., M.A.

Tony spent his childhood in the Monterey Hills of South Pasadena, an oak woodland oasis of rolling hills in Southern California near Los Angeles. His family was classic old-world Italian ( all four grandparents imigrated from Italy), and dad was a Firefighter for the City of Los Angeles. As a young adult, he migrated to Northern California and attended Humboldt State University, earning a Bachelors and Masters degree in Biology. His undergraduate interests of wildlife biology and microbiology led him to work in the wildlife disease lab as a bacteriologist, culminating in publications dealing with Avian Cholera in wild waterfowl and a Masters thesis, with publication, dealing with Listeriosis in Rosevelt Elk. Tony applied to veterinary school to further pursue a career in population-level Wildlife Disease, but experienced a newly discovered passion for the challenges of veterinary medicine and surgery. He attendend the University of California, Davis and graduated in 1985. With general mixed-practice in mind, Tony moved to Bend that same year and launched High Desert Veterinary in Spring 1986. With the exception of trips around the US and to Europe as veterinarian in the equine sport of Endurance Racing, Tony has spent his entire practice career in Central Oregon.

The current home of High Desert Veterinary on 27th Street was built in 1991 and expanded to include an equestrian center in 2000. The practice focuses on medical, dental and surgical care of dogs, cats, and horses.

Dr Oddo now practices exclusivly small animal and has a wealth of experience in Internal Medicine, Bone and Joint Surgery, Dentistry and Oral Surgery, Cancer Surgery, Critical Care, and Newborn through Geriatric Wellness.

Dr. Fay Burton has taken over as the exclusivly Equine practitioner. (Please see bio below....currently in progress)
