One of the greatest attractions of Bend to Tony was the feeling of “Community” he
found here. As a way to show his appreciation of, and commitment to, the Bend community,

Raised in Southern Oregon, Jeannette moved to Bend in 1993, where she attended COCC for two years, while working as a veterinary technician. She attended Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2001. She then returned to mixed animal practice in Central Oregon.
Jeannette has been the relief veterinarian at High Desert Veterinary since 2003, filling in for Dr. Oddo during vacations and conferences. She returned to full time practice at the clinic in August 2008.
Jeannette enjoys working with both small and large animals. She has special interests in internal medicine and equine reproduction and genetics. Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys time with family, her 5 labradors and chasing dreams of being a successful barrel racer. She currently competes in divisional barrel races on her two gray Quarter Horse geldings.

Dr. John Carr and his wife Cathleen, along with two youngest children Caitlin and Marie, began their move to Bend from Santa Cruz, California with the purchase of a rural property near several of their relatives in 2003. Having enjoyed Bend’s great outdoors, and wishing to live nearer their extended family, a decision was made to sell Dr. Carr’s mixed animal veterinary practice in Santa Cruz and make the move.
Indeed, moving is something Dr. Carr is familiar with; he was born in Panama, a third

“I have lived and traveled in many beautiful and wonderful places, but have never felt quite so at home as in Bend”, says Dr. Carr. “The great natural beauty and opportunities for outdoor activities here are of course major attractions, but there is something about the combination of traditional rural life with a small but cosmopolitan city that is especially appealing to me. This is the sort of environment I want for my family, and is ideal for the practice of personalized, mixed animal veterinary medicine that I love. It was a stroke of luck that Dr. Oddo and I became reacquainted here a couple of years ago, after first meeting in 1985. High Desert Veterinary Hospital is a wonderful practice, and I look forward to working with Dr. Oddo and his staff, and expanding our reach into the rural community.”
