Charlie’s Fund: A Legacy of Love
Some pets leave paw prints not just on our hearts, but across entire communities. Charlie—a gentle, black Labrador—was one of those rare souls. She had a way of brightening every visit to High Desert Veterinary, greeting us with a steady tail thump and the kind of calm, loving presence that made every day better.
When longtime clients Mel and Judy said goodbye to their beloved Charlie, they wanted her spirit of kindness to live on. In her honor, they made a generous $1,000 gift to create Charlie’s Fund—a fund dedicated to helping pets receive the medical care they need when cost might otherwise stand in the way.
Since then, Charlie’s Fund has continued to grow through acts of compassion both big and small. High Desert Veterinary donates $25 in the name of every pet we help cross the rainbow bridge. Our team has even started a Plants for Pets Program—selling plants we’ve lovingly propagated, with every dollar going straight into the fund.
Each time a pet receives care through Charlie’s Fund, Charlie’s light shines on. Her legacy reminds us that love doesn’t end—it simply finds new ways to grow.
So next time you’re at the clinic, take a peek at the plants near check-in or make a small donation to Charlie’s Fund. Together, we can keep Charlie’s loving spirit alive and help more tails keep wagging in Bend and beyond.
