Our Story

Founding High Desert Veterinary

Dr. Tony Oddo moved to Bend, OR in 1985, when the town’s population was just shy of 65,000. He spent the first six months completing his Oregon licensing requirements, and early in 1986 he founded High Desert Veterinary, a mixed-animal mobile practice.

In the early days, Tony “did it all.” He cared for horses and livestock along with cats, dogs and other household pets. For fifteen years, Tony has been the attending veterinarian for The High Desert Museum.

In 1990, Tony built our current facility. Today, High Desert Veterinary focuses on dogs, cats, some exotics and raptors.

Community Service

Tony was drawn to Bend’s strong sense of community  As a way to show his appreciation of, and commitment to, the Bend community, Tony has donated his time and resources to public organizations such as the Humane Society of Central Oregon, Deschutes County Sheriffs Office, Oregon State Police, Bend Police Department, The High Desert Museum, Central Oregon Community College, Bend-Lapine Schools, 4H, Future Farmers of America (FFA) and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
